the beauty in morbidity effortlessly showcased.....

We know next to nothing about Tom Phillips – other than that his name is accredited to these works on their mysterious website – so little in fact, that we can’t be sure if he is the photographer, the subject, or maybe even both. What we do no however, is clear. The Dead Photos is an inspiring collection of macabre, touching, humorous and enlightening images that offer a delicate insight into the fragility of human life. With titles such as “Dead in the Studio (For Keith Moon)”, “Dead in the Minimalist Dream” and “Dead in the National Trust (For Agatha Christie)”, it’s clear that there’s a tongue firmly set in a cheek throughout this series of photographs, yet the settings – Tom is certainly well travelled – the composition and the action of the ‘dead’ subject, lend these images an engaging, ethereal beauty…..
